6.6 · Ratings

A rating per rider, by class.

Two ratings per class, updated after every moto. Within a moto every finisher is compared with every other finisher, so beating a deep field moves a rating more than beating a thin one — which is what makes riders from different seasons comparable at all. Elo is the headline number; Glicko-2 carries a rating deviation, which says how settled the number is.

A rating is relative to the riders it met. It is not a prediction about a rider in a different class, and it is not a statement about machinery, fitness or luck.

RD is the Glicko-2 rating deviation: wide means the rating is still moving, narrow means it has settled. A rider who has raced three motos is not as certain as one who has raced thirty.

All time

The rating each rider carries now, after every moto in the dataset, among riders with at least ten motos.
